The record by Sunset Wings and Brodsky proved
to be successful at least because it’s much more than the sum of its parts.
At the same time, the album can’t be described as a fusion of two manners.
We’re being involved into a stereoscopic panorama,
in which psy-folk with the melancholy flavor of
Jackson C. Frank and Nick Drake is combined with refined neo-romanticism.
While not conceptual by design, the album doesn’t seem to be eclectic at all.
The songs form a kind of occasional cycle or rather
a gallery of musical sketches united by
a common aesthetic modality and optics.
And the optics works in such a way that,
to quote B'eirth, you’ll want to ask yourself:
‘But which side now of the looking-glass facade am I?’
