THE MOON AND THE NIGHT SPIRIT "Rego Rejtem" SPR052

Second album by the Hungarian Ethereal/Pagan Folk duo, complete with an extensive booklet featuring artwork created exclusively for this release by the band's singer Agnes Toth.
The Moon and the Nightspirit was formed in 2003 by Agnes and Mihaly. It is a mystical journey into the amaranthine realm of dreams and beauty, long-forgotten by modern man. A journey inspired by pagan fables, ancient Hungarian folk music and nature itself.
"Rego rejtem" is a line from ancient Hungarian minstrel songs, which means "I conjure with magic", or, in words even closer to Shamanism, "I am ecstatic in a trance", a vision that suits perfectly the mood on the duo's songs. This time they have traveled further into times bygone, rekindling the flames of the Taltos (Hungarian shaman) and reawakening the spirits of the Elders. The music has acquired a more varied and colorful tone through the use of varied ethnic instrumentation (such as kaval, tapan, jew's harp or zither), and has also become significantly more energetic and vibrant, without sacrificing the unique ambiance that the band had found on their debut album.
"Rego Rejtem" also finds the duo leaving behind the English language, and using only Hungarian lyrics this time. They come in the form of poems - chants dedicated to Mother Earth, the spiritual world and the ancient wisdom, and have also served, together with the music, as inspiration for several superb paintings that Agnes has produced to illustrate the album. These three elements (music, lyrics and illustrations) form a strong unity, and only with the existence of these three does "Rego Rejtem" become a whole.
Russian issue comes with artwork which is a bit different from original Equilibrium release.

Shadowplay is glad to present longawaited debut album of the hope of the Russian electro-goth - Voronezh band Cold Design. If you're interested in Russian dark scene you could notice this band at the second release of the "Colours of Black: Russian dark scene compilation". We can say that Cold Design was the one who attracted attention of the journalists. Ukraine Gothic portal even named them the main opening of the compilation "…the best of the bands who was unknown before…and now become the opening of the compilation".
The band spent almost two years while create their debut album overcame mistical events and crashes of the equipment. If you're crazy of the Terminal Choice and Clan Of Xymox "Calendar of Frozen Dates" is that you need. You will find in this CD dancefloor-tracks and lyric songs that are devoted to the eternal topics as love and parting, life and death. GOLDEN APES "Structures [The Inner Scars]" SPR036

The band has formed in 1998 as trio. The gothic had developed at that time and new band could choose the best features of its directions as guitar and bass of the early Goth Rock, emotions of the New Wave and Dark Wave romanticism. The band characterizes itself as "innovative gothic rock". The first two albums get exellent reviews, many journalists called them the classics of the gothic rock.
The album that was released with the The Dust Of Basement member Sven Wolff became also very successful.
The band become the real well-known after releasing "Structures [The Inner Scars]" that was produced by Scream Silence mastermind Hardy Fieting. The Russian fans had the opportunity to know this band at the "A Kiss In The Reptile House" compilation where their track "Remedy" was presented. The native relaese includes two additional tracks and the video-track on the "Remedy".

MOON FAR AWAY "SATOR" SPR030

Moon Far Away is the band whose debut album "Lado World" was with the single heart recognized as the first true gothic release in Russia. In 11 years of they existence this Arkhangelsk ritual darkwave \ neo-folk project became the cult one on a Russian dark scene and became very popular abroad. The tracks of the band were presented both in Russian and foreign compilations of the dark scene. The musical press gives excellent reviews on all Moon Far Away creations. You can find picture of the band as the centerfold in German magazine Zillo. Japanese director Susei Nisi made a film that is devoted to the Moon Far Away.
"...«SATOR», being the second full-scale release of this cultic lineup, expands the boundaries of its sound image even more, going deeper into the ethno-esoteric genre and using symbols of the early Christianity. Every fall, the air becomes transparent and humid, and because of that everything around seems to be trembling and floating, and each one of us, somewhere afar, can feel that sound. The sound that makes us want to run away from ourselves and then come back. That's the sound of the haunting voices of the fading nature, whispering to us that it is fading, slowly and nobly, and calling us to follow after her, coating us with thousands of haunting voices. And all those sounds dissolve within us, they resound in us, and with all our being we begin to feel the INFLUENCE of nature's autumnal sorrow and boredom over itself.
Romantic darkwave and ethereal have become very popular among domestic underground audience practically from the moment of it's foundation. And it is difficult to say why. May be thanks to the romantic, tragic and the beauty of the music that are very appreciated by Russians and may be thanks to the disposition of the people who formed such style to the experiments and unavailability to understanding of their music:. But we could say with the assurance that being such popular this style of the music is elite in some way.
At the very beginning of the genre foundation almost all bands had it's own face and style. But in the course of time there were more and more imitators and it's find really difficult to find something that could draw attention.

DOPPELGANGER "Saturnian Rings" SPR035

"Saturnian Rings" is the fifth album by one of the oldest and most famous Russian gothic-rock bands. Its career started with modern forms of gothic-rock, and album by album the band's sound comes closer and closer to the early sounds of gothic-rock and post punk.
"Saturnian Rings" is some sort of a destination point, some sort of a last house on the block. On this album band appears with absolutely non-commercial outlook, giving up a certain part of its audience for the sake of revival of traditional sound.
Band members' interest to the role of Roman God Saturn in medieval alchemic teachings has served as a framework for this album; lyrics to some songs are inspired by writings of Gustav Meyrink, well known Austrian author. This is not just another use of occulted subject as mysterious bait for the listeners. This is a simple historic interest, an effort to reevaluate the historical and intellectual heritage of Western European culture from own point of view.
Along with 10 original tracks this album contains 4 bonus tracks. Bonus tracks are the remixes of the DopelgangeR song by Two Witches (Germany/Finland), Redemption (USA), The Way Of All Flesh (UK), Secrecy (Portugal). Also, there is a special appearance of Pavel "NWO" Gromov, the front man of Moscow based band Antisisters. He sings on one of the tracks.

NECRO STELLAR "Pulsing Zero" SPR024

Veterans of Russian dark wave, quite often shocking with their extravagance, occultists NECRO STELLAR for a long time do not require any more representation to domestic public. However, and not only for domestic: the previous album of this collective - " Saturating Cemetery " - has subdued hearts not only of Russian listeners, but also has been warmly met by the European and American audience. In the 30 of the best releases of 2005 in opinion of the biographer of Goth Mick Mercer "Saturating Cemetery " appeared in the first (!) 10, and such influential foreign editions as ZILLO, ORKUS and GOTHIC BEAUTY gave this creation the extremely positive estimations. Tracks of NECRO STELLAR appear in play-lists of the western broadcasts devoted to schwarze scene, and disks of this band now can be found practically in any parts of the globe, starting from Japan and stopping by Brazil and Argentina. The matter is the unique sound of this collective. The leader of the project Yuri Zvezdniy is known as the brilliant master and the expert in work with an analog sound. Together with his colleagues of band he puts horror into listeners, generating chilling up to depth of the soul, or forcing blood to begin to boil a mix from EBM, dark electro and ambient.
The basic musical direction based on sound of the old analog synthesizers, tape processing, physical modeling, guitar drive, magnificent programming, generously seasoned with naturalistic noise and sounds, a different sort of anxious rustles, vinyl effects, industrial Low Fi loops, iron sheets, ominous jingling of scythe and tribal-percussion of human bones, put listener in a mysterious atmosphere of a dark wood of the human consciousness.
The variety of vocal components gives the sounding of an album the unique, bright, expressive, sharp-sensual painting. Here are cutting-through ears vocoder chorals replaced by quiet open pathetic singing of the soloist, and gentle, sometimes ethereal motives - wild growling of Anastasia Podnebesnaya.
Considering an unanimous opinion of the western critics, it is possible to say, that unique style of performance and the own style of this band which are out of habitual frameworks of the modern electro music, allows to tell about creativity of NECRO STELLAR as of the most interesting phenomenon which has arisen on the ground of their country's schwarze stage. The style of this collective some conditionally name "VooDoo Electro", actually represents difficultly giving in to the description symbiosis of kraut, old school electro and modern electro, some moments seems like trance and experimental.
The band have co-operated with many known Russian electronicians. Some of them, in particular Moscow violinist Evgeny Voronovsky from CISFINITUM, took part in record of "Pulsing Zero".
Besides the unique material represented by the band, essential interest for the listeners is the results of teamwork of NECRO STELLAR with pioneers of British electronics ATTRITION, Australians ANGEL THEORY and gifted American divine UNWOMAN. REQUIEM FOR FM "kRASH!" SPR022

In spite of their young age, this band is well known to Russian audience. Requiem for FM's music doesn't feel too dismal for representatives of dark-scene. Their style finds its place somewhere between synthpop, techno and trance, but their light, dancing sounding is repaid dramatically with gloominess of the lyrics. They are somewhat similar to 'The Smiths', singing easily and without embarrassment about extremely serious things. And as the lyrics of the forerun single had been completely dedicated to the natural cataclysms, man-caused disasters and total pollution of the environment, the band proceeds with their investigations in kRASH. Now, the apocalyptic reality of the world is entangled with the personal communications and relations, emotional torments of a modern man, and man of a future; with realization of limited choices and inevitability of forthcoming requital. Inner conflicts of a hero quite naturally transforms into disasters, common to all mankind, and vice versa.
Band take their work seriously, and it undoubtedly has an effect on musical constituent of the album. Modern musical tendencies are seamlessly combined with the band's own distinctive sounding. Mastering had been provided by Alexander Krasheninnikov - a famous sound producer and mastering engineer, known by his works with legendary Russian bands Technologija and Miraj and also with lots of modern dancing bands.
Pavel "NWO" Gromov (Antisisters), Fedor Svolotch and Yana Veva (Theodor Bastard) took part in vocal recordings, adding their voices to the structure of sound canvas, excellently makes sounding of the album similar to their native bands.
The CD also contains a compact bonus-section that shows how the quality of a single remix by Martin Bowes (Attrition, UK) - the apologist of English and international darkwave and dark-electronics' master - can surpass the possible quantity: Bowes managed to transform vigorous song 'Torn In Two' into a dreamy and a languorous composition. Author says: "I'd like the song to feel like in a dream - with emerging and fading echoes, short fragments coming to memory!"
Enveloped by dreams, quiet and surprisingly atmospheric remix contrasts to the nimble and lively album it concludes, marking a bold dot... for what? The answer is up to the listener.

MOON FAR AWAY "Belovodie" SPR007

Belovodie is the first studio disk in last five years and the third full-frame studio album in the history of the band. Like previous releases of Moon Far Away Belovodie has it's own concept. From the very beginning the band underlines in different ways the ritual component in it's creative work and it's closeness to ancient traditions. And at the same time journalists were asked by the question - why does the band ignore in it's creative work the Russian north tradition theme that is the subject of interest of the musicians? So that is the moment! The new album almost all consists of folk songs of the Arkhangelsk state in original arrangement of Moon Far Away.
For the first time the release date in Russia coincides with the official release date abroad. The release in USA and Europe is realized by French label Prikosnovenie. On the territory of the ex-USSR states the new disk of the band is released by the label Shadowplay Release with the additional new track which is absent in foreign version. By the agreement with the band European and Russian versions have different sleeve-design that could be the reason for troubles for true collectors.

NECRO STELLAR "SATURATING CEMETERY” SPR 005

This is the second album of one of the oldest gothic Moscow band that was recorded in summer of 2004. The new release is the next step in work of their own sound. "Saturating Cemetery" is, in a sense, some kind of rarity and experiment in which wide spectrum of different instruments is presented, from Soviet synthesizers to percussions made of human bones. The stylistics varies from dark ambient and psychedelic rock to electro and cyber dark space. The mild synthetic beat that moves to dance rhythm, the classical contrast between low male vocal and ethereal female one. The occult mystic atmosphere gives the special dark mood to the album. This release will be very interested to the fans of dark wave, synth-goth, dark electro and EBM.
